PureNRG, a Christian based band, truly gives life to its name!  The band is comprised of 14-year-olds, Caroline & Carolyne, and 16-year-old Jordan, all of whose extraordinary talent for singing and dancing has brought fire onto their stage and created a whole new level of live entertainment.  Hollywood Teen’Zine was able to catch up with Caroline of PureNRG to find out where she got her start and what has been the driving force of their band.

Caroline started dancing at the age of three and by the age of four had begun experimenting in singing and performing.    About six years ago Caroline along with Jordan and the other Carolyne received a request for an audition. “Jordan, Carolyne and I were all contacted separately and brought to these auditions, and what was weird was when we got to the auditions, we had already known each other.”  After a night of singing, learning a dance and then performing it the three were put together to officially form a band.  The newly founded group came up with a dictionary of names for a band before coming up with PureNRG.  “I can’t even imagine how many names.  The first was G-Kids, then Crush Kick Start, Shamblejam, CarinDo, and then Jordan’s mom had the idea NRG Times Three and we gave that to our record label and it just kind of came back to us as PureNRG.”  And so with the three talented kids and an official name PureNRG was born.

PureNRG  just recently released their fourth studio album; the theme Caroline said, “Is standing up for what you believe in and knowing that everybody is beautiful in their own way.”  When putting together the playlist for their albums PureNRG strived to use songs with a message that will bring encouragement to their listeners.  “Every time that we listen to songs, we just want to make sure that there is a positive message that can be spread through our music.”  PureNRG not only puts a lot of energy into their performances and music but also into the message of their songs.  They put a lot of passion behind the beats and the notes and the words that they sing so that they might influence their fans.  When we asked Caroline about what their main goal is when they share their music she said, “Our main goal is just to show everybody just to stand up for what you believe in and shine because you are beautiful in your own way and that’s how you were created.”   Being such a positive influence for their fans has only added to the list of things that makes this group so different from most performers their age.

The group has been moving non-stop and performing their hearts out!   When the stage lights come on and the curtain goes up, PureNRG puts on a show.  Between the dancing and the music they make it a concert people won’t forget.  “(Fans) can expect lots of energy, lots of HIGH energy, lots of singing, dancing, and clapping your hands, lots of back-flips - the only words that I can think to describe our show is high energy.  Because we are always jumping around, always clapping our hands, having the audience wave their hands in the air, always trying to get the audience involved.”  PureNRG may be naturally good at a lot of what they do, but they put a lot of hard work into their performances.  “We have to rehearse at least three days a week for about two or three hours, and we also have to do stamina training...so we have the ability to sing and dance at the same time because it’s not the easiest thing to do,” Caroline explained.    PureNRG lights up the stage for every concert and they work hard to get those results.

The band has had amazing opportunities over the years.  They have visited so many cities through their tours.  Caroline’s favorite city that PureNRG has performed in so far is New York.  “I love big cities and I love to perform,” Caroline told us.  “I’d love to be on Broadway.  I love going to New York City and just walking around, seeing all the Broadway plays and seeing how the culture is different there.”  As a whole, though, PureNRG most enjoys San Francisco.  They have performed in San Francisco three times over the years, and have had a blast singing their music in such a large, fast paced city!

People come from all around to hear them sing and watch them put on a brilliant show! “In Greer, South Carolina; a fan was there all the way from New Jersey.  She had driven about ten hours to get there!”  They have spread their music all the way from New York to Norway and have had the chance to create a huge following throughout the process.  Just recently PureNRG was a part of the Creation West Festival in Washington.  They were able to travel around Washington and share their message and their music.  “It was so awesome to go out into that part of the country because it is so beautiful over there.  We were just really glad that we had that opportunity to get our positive message out to even Washington,” Caroline explained with excitement.

PureNRG is a musical blast on and off stage.   They have nearly perfected their live performance not leaving out anything.  They combine dancing, singing, and tumbling into one whirlwind of a show and share the message of their music all in one.  To get to know Caroline from PureNRG more read on for more excerpts from our interview!

What’s the one thing you miss most when you go out on tour?  I really just miss being with my family and being at home with them.  I think that’s the main thing that normally I miss, that everybody in the group misses.  It’s just seeing their family.

What must you have on tour with you at all times?  My cell phone because then I can call my family, I can call my mom, my dad and my two brothers. I can text my friends, and if I were to get lost, I could call someone for help. I don’t really leave any place without my cell phone.

Outside of performing, what else do you like to do with your spare time?  In the summertime, I love to swim.  That’s like my favorite thing to do.  I wish that I had time to be on a swim team because it’s so much fun.  I also like to dance and take dance classes.  I like to sing.  I love to do arts and crafts, and to just hang out with my family, go to support my brother at his soccer game. Or my older brother who does plays, support them. That’s pretty much what I like to do at home.

Do you attend regular school or are you home-schooled?  All the way until the 5th grade, I attended regular school.  Then 6th, 7th and 8th grade, I was home-schooled.  And 7th and 8th grade I did a tutorial program, which was only two days a week and then now I’m going into 9th grade and I’m going back to real school.  I’m going back to high school, and it’s actually a school for performing arts, so I’m really excited.  I’m really looking forward to that.

What’s your favorite subject?  My favorite subject used to be math, but now over the summer it’s changing to science because I love to experiment and see how things work.  My new favorite subject would probably science, or if you count dance as a subject because at my new school one of my subjects is dance.  It’s pretty cool, dance is one of the main subjects that I am taking, and so if you count that that would probably be my favorite subject, but if you don’t count that, probably science.

What about your least favorite subject?  My least favorite subject would be English.

How have you spent your summer vacation so far?  Well, I went to Orlando with my family.  Also, PureNRG went to Norway that was a lot of fun. I went to the beach.  Right now, I’m actually in Chicago visiting my brother because he was at a camp.  We’re going to come home and then he’ll come home from camp and then we start school.

Favorite Actress:  Jennifer Garner.  “I love 13 going on 30, it’s one of my favorite movies.”

Favorite band/musician?  I think it would be a tie between Selena Gomez, Demi Lavato.   I love all them.

Do you have a celebrity crush?  Probably Zac Efron. Carolyn and I love Zac Efron.  He’s so cute.

Have you seen “17 Again”?   Yes, I love it.  It’s such a good movie.

Favorite TV show?  That’s a hard one. I’d say “Whose The Boss” or “Jon and Kate Plus 8.”

What is your favorite book?  I love The Westing Game. It’s like a mystery and it’s about this guy who actually passes away and his will is a game. All these people have to figure out who killed him because it’s who killed him in his will. But, then this guy has four identities. It’s really confusing, but it’s a really cool book. If you have time, you should read it, it’s amazing.

Favorite spot to go on vacation?  My favorite spot to go on vacation would be the beach because it’s just so relaxing. I think if I had gone there before it would be Hawaii, but I haven’t been there, so my favorite spot is North Myrtle Beach.

Any last shouts out to your fans?  Yeah, just keep standing up for what you believe in always do what you think is best.
