Young Alex Ferris is creating quite a buzz in the entertainment industry working with some of Hollywood’s most prominent celebrities.  You can currently see Alex in theatres nationwide starring opposite Eric Bana and Rachel McAdams in "The Time Traveler's Wife".

The time travel aspect of the film was something that intrigued Alex upon reading the script and he confessed his interest in the Egyptian culture.  “It would definitely be in Egypt,” he said speaking of the one place he would like to travel.  “I am very fascinated by the Egyptians and their ways of life and their inventions."

While Alex landed many great roles he has auditioned for, the casting process for this film wasn’t as easy since most of his auditions consisted of filmed video segments mailed in to the casting directors for their review.  After a few mail-in auditions, Alex was called in to read in front of the casting directors and landed the role. "It was actually the first audition that I ever booked on tape,” he explained.

Alex’s fascination with cars ignited his passion for acting and was also his favorite part of filming the movie.  “I got to sit in this really old car,” he told us of his favorite scene to shoot from the film.  “It was like a car from the 1950’s.”  Now let’s travel back in time to the beginning of this fascination when Alex went on vacation his family.  A few days after he met a new friend he found out that the little boy did commercials for matchbox cars and got to keep some of the cars from the commercial.  The idea of getting to keep the cars beguiled the soon-to-be actor and created this mass appeal of the entertainment industry.

Convincing his parents to embark on a journey into Hollywood took a little more effort.  “I asked my mom and after a few days of begging I was finally allowed to be an actor if we could find an agent.  So, I went up to the boy and asked him who his agent was.  When I got back to Vancouver I wrote the agent a letter.  Nevertheless, I booked my first audition.”

Another highlight from the film was working with the great Eric Bana.  "It was really fun to get to know him,” Alex told us.  “He would be talking in his Australian accent, but then, all of a sudden he had this American accent.”

Downtime on the set for Alex typically involved some great behind-the-scenes education, and no we are not talking about attending set school.  "I really fascinated with the equipment - like the cameras and the booms, and all that stuff - I am really interested to see what it is,” he says of his eagerness to learn about everything that goes into the production.  “I also like the editing process and seeing it on the screen, and thinking what parts are actually going to make it into the movie."

With a brand new movie under his belt and a few more in the works, you will most likely be seeing Alex grace television and movie screens across the country for many years to come.  To find out more about Alex, be sure to stop by his official IMDB website.  Catch Alex starring in “The Time Traveler's Wife” opposite Eric Bana and Rachel McAdams currently in theatres nationwide.
