STERLING BEAUMON RETURNS TO LOST.
(By: Bessie Sorge)
Many of you will probably recognize young Sterling Beaumon from last years hit DVD release "Mostly Ghostly" starring opposite Madison Pettis and Dylan and Cole Sprouse, or you may have seen him guest star on ABC's critically acclaimed television series Lost. Sterling proves he is ready to play alongside the big leaguers of the entertainment world as he takes on a four episode return on Lost.
If you haven't been able to catch an episode of Lost this season then you will definitely not want to miss the next few episodes. Sterling will reprise the role of Young Ben Linus beginning this Wednesday, March 18, 2009. Viewers can expect to see four all-new action packed episodes digging further into the depths of the island than ever before.
We recently chatted with Sterling to find out about his highly anticipated return to the set of Lost and what we can expect to see during his stay.
Tell us about your character on the show.
My character on the show is quiet, curious, intelligent and he thinks before he does anything. The same with older Ben, he thinks before he does anything. Young Ben reads a lot. He reads a lot of books. That's mainly what he does.
How did it feel to be back on the set of Lost?
It was so much fun 'cause (the) first day I was there I went to the production office and they said “oh why don't you go down (and) you can say hey to all the hair people” and when I went down there it was just like a reunion from hair and make-up to costumes to the A.D. (Assistant Director) to props. Oh props. Props was like the biggest reunion. Props is like my buds.
What is it like filming in Hawaii?
Hawaii is a lot of fun to film in 'cause when you're done filming you take a ten minute ride back to your hotel because the island is so small. In two hours you can go around the whole island. And fortunately for the hotel I just recently stayed at the beach was seriously like five feet outside our hotel room. It’s really nice because it’s right by North Shore where we film a lot. You can go down there and you can like be completely killed by these huge enormous waves. But, it's a lot of fun.
What has been your favorite scene to film so far on the show?
So my favorite scene was filming with Madeline Carroll who plays Annie in the show and working with my Dad. My favorite scene to film has got to be when I first come into DHARMA and I'm in like the orientation room where my dad finds out he's a workman and where I first meet one of my friends in the show Madeline (Annie).
What has been your most difficult scene to film so far?
The hardest one to film was the one in the middle of the night (where) I had to ball and ball and ball and just like cry my eyes out for hours upon hours upon hours straight. So that was really hard and it was draining because that was the one where I go out in the middle of the jungle and I see my mom and I just cry. Yeah, so that one was definitely the most difficult.
How do you prepare yourself to film the dramatic scenes?
I take like ten minutes. I think of the worst thing that could possibly happen. But after you use it a few times you have to think of a new worst thing that could possibly happen. So, I have a lot of things in my mind that could go wrong.
Were there any funny moments on the set?
So, I am running by with somebody else, I can't say who, and all of a sudden, and they're in front of me, that person slips and takes me down and they land right on top of me.
If you are stranded on an island name three things you would take with you?
I would take my guitar and an amplifier. All of the clothes I could possibly need that are totally in style or whatever is like cool, even though that wouldn't matter. And then I would probably bring everything I would possibly need to survive, including girls.
What exactly does Young Ben Linus' return signify? We can't say too much, but Sterling has revealed that there will be a lot of "character development and you will learn a lot about the island." We cannot wait to see what happens! Lost airs on ABC every Wednesday night. Check your local listing for the time.
